THESE EARRINGS ARE INSPIRED BY SONDO'S YOUNGEST SISTER, SEELA (age 5).

When we first discussed doing a series of pieces inspired by Sondos' siblings, I asked her what information she would like me to share about each of them. She requested that I make pieces in their favorite colors and share with the world some of their hopes and dreams for their future.

Seela is the beloved and cherished youngest of the family. She is a beautiful and playful girl with bright green eyes and a bright mind. Before the war, she was just beginning her studies in kindergarten and had always dreamed of succeeding at school. Seela was supposed to be in the first grade this year but has been unable to return to learning due to the dire conditions and lack of school funds. She dreams of returning to her home, hugging her toys and the dolls that her mother used to make for her, wearing her beautiful dresses, and living a life filled with hope. She longs for a home where she no longer feels filled with terror from the sounds of planes and random bombing.
